About Us
The Council is a twin venture of the Girls Circle Association (GCA), A Project of the Tides Center. We are the founders and providers of the nationally recognized Girls Circle program, a strengths-based female responsive program for girls. Additionally, we offer the Girls Circle Facilitator Training - a workshop that prepares facilitators to implement effective and engaging girls' support groups. With the new Council model and curricula, GCA extends a practical, timely, and consistent approach to those serving boys and young men.
Co-founders Giovanna Taormina and Beth Hossfeld, MFT, have developed this model in close collaboration with other experienced and knowledgeable professionals serving youth. Authors and curriculum developers Mike Trepper, MSW, Director of the Boys Initiative of Tampa Bay, Florida, and Tanya Wiser, LCSW and Lani Chow, PhD, of the San Francisco Peninsula, have also contributed conceptual and practical guidance to this project.
